Welcome to 2013! Here’s a sampling of what’s on tap for Joint Base San Antonio, which includes military and civilian employees of Lackland AFB, Randolph AFB, and Fort Sam Houston.
It’s autumn in San Antonio, and though there may not exactly be a chill in the air, there’s definitely a holiday spirit afoot! Read on for what’s coming up for Lackland AFB’s military families this holiday season.
All Lackland AFB housing has been privatized as of 2008, and is currently owned by Balfour Beatty Communities, LLC. Housing on base is only available for families and E5s and above. E1s – E4s that are single are required to live in the dormitories. There are eight distinct neighborhoods on base, with a total of 895 homes. Since on-base housing is privatized, you are required to pay rent. The Military will give you a BAH every month for the exact amount of your monthly rent. If you are married to another military member, the BAH of the highest-ranking military member in your household will be the cost of your rent.
