Randolph, Lackland, and Fort Sam Housing: Local Real Estate News

posted Jan 30, 2014

Living on base at Randolph Air Force Base, Lackland Air Force Base, or Fort Sam Houston can provide a wonderful feeling of community, but there may come a time when you want to live off base or move from a rental house into your own home. San Antonio is a large city with many different neighborhoods and school districts, and it is important to consider the pros and cons of any neighborhood before moving. At Housing 1 Source, we will help you find the neighborhood that is best suited to you and your family’s needs. Consider the following local real estate news as you search for your perfect home:

Condo Sales on the Rise
The Texas Association of Realtors (TAR) recently released a report showing a significant increase in the sale of condominiums in the Alamo City, a trend that is in keeping with condo sales across Texas’ major metropolitan areas. The TAR credits this trend in part to job and population growth in metro areas, although part of the attraction may also be the lower maintenance costs commonly associated with condo vs. home owning.

San Antonio at A High in Home Sales

If you see a home you like, don’t wait too long! It’s common knowledge in local real estate news that homes are being bought quickly after going on the market. According to the San Antonio Board of Realtors, total annual home sales in San Antonio have hit a six-year high, with more homes selling in San Antonio by November of 2013 than sold in the entire previous year. This is in keeping with sales trends across the rest of the state of Texas.

More Than 9000 New Homes Scheduled for San Antonio

According to MetroStudy, San Antonio builders are currently on track to start more than 9,000 new homes next year. Reports show that there were 2,304 single-family home starts during the third quarter of 2013, reflecting nearly a 3% increase from last year.

Homebuilders Have Reasons to Be Confident

A builder sentiment index released this month by the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo revealed a rating of 58, the highest it’s been in eight years. This indicates that builders view sales conditions as good and that their outlook on sales for next year has improved. Experts attribute this growing confidence to the market’s steady job growth and the continuation of low mortgage rates.
